BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) — Boston's patriotic pooches will need to come back next year to show off their American pride.

Boston Harborfest's Patriotic Poochapalooza event has been canceled due to Sunday's weather.

The event was set to start at noon on day 3 of Harborfest's annual five-day celebration taking place on Independence Day weekend.

Costumed canines and their humans were going to spend the afternoon making their way down the Downtown Crossing steps for a costume show as a panel of guest judges handed out prizes to the Best In Show, Best Team, and Most Patriotic.

Through Me To You Puppetry, the Mediterranean Band, and the Waterfront Concert have all been canceled on Sunday.

Some other Harborfest events have been moved in the event of lightning activity.

The Democracy Brewing and Distraction Brewing Company Beer Garden, music performances from Downtown Boston Brass and the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes and Drums, and historical re-enactments have been moved under the Macy's awning on Summer Street in the event of severe weather. The Maddi Ryan Band and Ivory Jones and White Chocolate will both perform under the awning.
