Boston Police Identify Suspect In North End Shooting Outside Modern Pastry

BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) — Boston Police have identified the man they believe is responsible for a shooting that left a bullet hole through a popular North End bakery.

Police said they are looking for 54-year-old Patrick Mendoza in connection to the shooting outside Modern Pastry. Court records show that Mendoza was allegedly riding a bike down Hanover Street when he began yelling at a man standing on the street. Mendoza then allegedly dropped his bike on the street, pulled out a gun, and began shooting.

The male victim told police he was waiting for his daughter to get off of work when Mendoza started cursing and yelling at him before shooting twice in his direction.

Newly obtained surveillance footage shows a man riding his bicycle before stopping and pulling out a gun and firing at another man. The victim can be seen hiding behind a car before running away.

The victim told police he has known Mendoza for about 20 years and that there is an ongoing feud between them. He also stated there have been multiple incidents over the years.

No one was hurt in the shooting, but a bullet did leave a hole through one of the front windows at Modern Pastry.

Boston Police is asking the public to help locate Mendoza. In the police report, the victim described him as being about 5'8 with gray, braided hair, and wearing a short sleeve shirt and shorts.

He is being charged with assault to murder and unlawful possession of a firearm among other charges.
