Mass. Police Investigate After Truck Driver Is Seriously Hurt With Hammer

BOLTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating after an alleged road rage incident on Route 495 left a man hospitalized on Monday afternoon.

Police received reports about an altercation involving a weapon in the breakdown lane of Route 495 South in Bolton around 2 p.m., a spokesperson for State Police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed two men, driving in a Volkswagen GTI hatchback, allegedly assaulted a tractor-trailer operator with a hammer.

The tractor-trailer driver was seriously injured in the altercation and was transported to Leominster Hospital, said police.

Before police could arrive, the two men in the Volkswagen fled the scene. Shortly after, police stopped the suspects in Marlborough and brought the two men into custody, according to officials.

Police reported there was also a woman in the vehicle who was not charged.

One of the suspects was brought to Marlborough Hospital to get treated for injuries sustained during the altercation.
