BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — One Boston TikToker gets her fair share of comments, but recently they've taken a personal turn.

WBZ's Emma Friedman met up with Ashley DeMato to solve the case of the Eastie accent.

Ashley DeMato has been a full-time Boston lifestyle TikToker for about a year and a half. Recently she has been receiving comments from skeptics online who don't believe her accent is real.

"I mean you can't even get upset anymore, I used to get really defensive and I'm like who cares, this is a stranger on the internet if you know me you know this is how I talk," DeMato said.

DeMato and Friedman took to the streets of the North End to ask Bostonians if they could confirm her accent is legitimate.

"Oh yeah I believe so, I don't think she's lying to us," Frankie, a North End restaurant owner, said.

Her fiancé also has a following on TikTok and loves to make videos joking about her accent. She said sometimes he still has trouble understanding her.
