STONEHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Stoneham Police Department is reminding residents to lock their cars after a recent uptick in vehicle thefts.
On Friday afternoon, Stoneham Police got reports of a stolen vehicle in Winchester. Later in the day, the same white Audi was involved in an attempted carjacking in Medford, officials said. Medford Police pursued the vehicle on I-93 North but lost contact with it.
Around 5:30 p.m., a Stoneham officer located the vehicle and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and eventually crashed into a residence leaving minor damage.
Stoneham Police are asking residents to lock their cars and not to leave them running when making a "quick stop."

Police said at least three minors fled the scene. Police continued after one suspect on foot and took them into custody.
Massachusetts State Police arrived at the scene with K-9s and its Air Wing to attempt to track down the other suspects that fled.
