15-Year-Old Dies After Being Pulled From Dunstable Pond

DUNSTABLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 15-year old boy has died after he went missing while swimming in a pond near the Massachusetts/New Hampshire state line.

Dunstable Police Chief James Dow said the teen was swimming with friends in a conservation pond near Main Street in Dunstable on Friday afternoon, when he became distressed and his friends lost sight of him in the water.

Emergency crews and Nashua Fire Rescue Dive Team responded to the pond at around 4:15 p.m. and searched until the boy was found nearly two hours later in about 13 feet of water.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marion Ryan's Office.

A spokesperson for the DA's Office said the boy’s name will not be released because the office does not release juvenile names when no foul play is suspected in a death.
