State Health Connector Holds Day of Coverage

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) At the Fields Corner, an MBTA line stop on the Red Line in Dorchester, there is a push to get more uninsured get health insurance.

Monday was The Massachusetts Health Connector ‘Day of Coverage,” with events across the Commonwealth designed to get people enrolled prior to the deadline of December 22 for coverage that begins in January.

They are targeting the communities of Dorchester, Lowell, Lawrence, Framingham, Fall River and Springfield.  All with high rates of uninsured residents.

It seems to be taking a lot of rail riders by surprise. Free coffee, Donuts, and a smile.Many who typically rush through the station are stopping to get and crucial information on how to enroll.

“I think what we are doing is going to have an impact in their lives and hopefully they seek help and find the health insurance that meet their needs ” said a Health Connector representative.

 Residents can sign up for coverage at www.MAhealthconnector.org, over the phone at 1-877-MA-ENROLL (1-877-623-6765), or in person through a local navigator organization.
