BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Over the last week, the Bruins have traded for forwards Rick Nash and Tommy Wingels, signed Brian Gionta fresh off his Olympic run, and dealt for defenseman Nick Holden.
Gone are Ryan Spooner, Frank Vatrano, Matt Beleskey's contract, a pair of defensive prospects, and four future draft picks.
The question, of course, is whether the B's did enough, especially after the Lightning added Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller, and the Penguins and Maple Leafs upgraded their rosters as well.
General manager Don Sweeney believes his group will end its two-game skid and return to what its been most of the year.
"I don't think we've played particularly well in five of the last eight games, to be perfectly honest with you," he said. "I expect our team to get back to the level that we've been for the majority of the season, and that was part of the intention of our moves here in the last couple of days, to improve the depth here overall."
A 16-game March looms.
"We've had a tough March in front of us, and if we want to get to where we want to be and play the way that we're capable of playing--which we've showed for the vast majority of the season thus far, we have to play better," Sweeney said.
The Bruins and Hurricanes play Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
