BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins enjoyed a surprisingly dominant year with 112 points--seven better than their first-round playoff opponent from Toronto.

But, Boston also struggled in the season-series, to the tune of a 1-2-and-1 record.

Still, general manager Don Sweeney's confident in his group. He spoke about his expectations for the postseason.

"We want to win," he said. "We've put ourselves in position with 15 other teams. We deserve to be here, and hopefully we can continue to move forward."

This will mark the 15th postseason meeting between the Original Six franchises and the first since a memorable 2013 series when Boston rallied from down 3-1.

Both lost in the first round last year.

These clubs are similar. Lots of youth, but experienced veteran cores. You know the names. Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci. Marleau, van Riemsdyk, Kadri.

The B's limped to the finish with a 1-3-and-1 start to April. The Maple Leafs have won 10 of their last 14.

Game 1 is on Thursday night. Hear more from Sweeney below.
