BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- In determining the best place to retire, Bankrate.com looked at taxes, health care, weather, crime, culture and other factors.

New Hampshire did well ranking Fourth. Massachusetts ranked 12th.

Taylor Tepper says people need to think about what retirees are really looking for .

"I think this this cultural bias that retirement means a beach or means warm weather or even means moving to where your kids are and those things won't necessarily make you happy," he said."

The survey found South Dakota is the best age to retire. The worst state? New York it's so expensive.
