BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Mookie Betts led baseball in batting average, slugging percentage, and runs. The All-Star's a favorite to win American League MVP.

But, his lone playoff appearances haven't been great. Seven games the last two Octobers, and Betts is a .269 hitter. No homers. No RBI. One stolen base.

Mix that with a pair of first-round losses and, what's on Mookie's mind?

"Just using it as motivation to get to that World Series," Betts said. "We just gotta go out and play with intensity from pitch one, get a couple wins here, and go from there."

His group set a team-record with 108 wins this year. What has to change to avoid another premature exit?

"I just think you have to play with urgency," he said. "I think that has to kinda be our mindset going forward, from pitch one--just play like it's our last."

Sox went 57-and-24 at Fenway. Does that help with the Yankees coming to town?

"Our fanbase is definitely huge," Betts said. "We've played really good at home too, so to be here in front of these fans will be something to our advantage for sure."

Boston's road to a ninth championship begins at 7:32 p.m. tomorrow.
