Mayor Walsh and Bruins Zedeno Chara Handout Socks To Needy

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) — Staying warm is important for everyone this time of year, especially the homeless. Veterans at the New England Center and Home for Veterans in Boston got some help from the Mayor, and a Boston Bruins.

Bruins Captain Zedeno Chara and Mayor Marty Walsh handed out socks to veterans on this chilly day after Christmas, the Mayor complementing Chara and the Bruins for their help.

"I just want to thank Zedeno...I saw him at Thanksgiving giving out delivering pies in the Bruins organization and New Balance. Great people giving back to the community...and this guy here, the captain, he's so ingrained in the communitty. He's a Bostonian, and not only is he a Bostonian on the ice but off the ice. I am grateful for him, the Bruins and New Balance for what they are doing here. They do it quietly, they are there 365 days a year around the community and I just want to thank them today," Walsh said.

They also distributed socks at The Pine Street Inn, and Rosie's Place in Boston.
