BOSTON,MA (WBZ-AM/AP) — Actor Kevin Spacey has filed a motion to waive his right to be present at an arraignment in Nantucket on January 7 in connection to a sex assault case.
In his motion filing, he wished to enter a plea of 'not guilty.'
The actor says he believes his presence "will amplify the negative publicity already generated in connection with the case."

Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney Michael Giardino wrote that Spacey's appearance is required under state rules for criminal case procedure.
The 59-year-old Oscar winner is charged with felony indecent assault and battery.
Prosecutors say he groped an 18-year-old man, the son of Heather Unruh a former Boston television anchor, in a Nantucket restaurant in 2016.
Unruh, said that Spacey had provided her son, (who allegedly told Spacey he was 21), with a number of alcoholic beverages before going down his pants and grabbing his genitals.
Spacey's attorneys have not spoken publicly about the case but in a court hearing questioned the evidence.
