Medfield Barber Charged With Rape, Local Parents Shocked

MEDFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Medfield residents said they were "shocked" to find out a local barber who often cut kids' hair is now facing several charges, including Rape of a Child, and Indecent Assault and Battery on an Intellectually Disabled Person.

38-year-old Ervin Pizarro of Uxbridge, who owns Just Ervin's Barber Salon on Main Street in Medfield, was arrested in February. His employees have been running the shop ever since.

Pizarro is being held without bail at the Norfolk County House of Corrections. He has been charged with four counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on an Intellectually Disabled Person, and one count of Rape of a Child.

"A lot of people were shocked by it," said Medfield resident Steve Caskey, who runs the page 'Concerned Citizens of Medfield' on Facebook. "Numerous parents, especially moms, wrote in about how they brought their kids there."

This is not Pizarro's first arrest on similar charges. According to court documents, the barber has two open cases in Worcester County stemming from allegations made in the early 2000s. The first case is for one count of Rape of a Child and Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child. The second case is for Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child. The cases have two different alleged victims.

Pizarro was arrested in 2016 and was later released on bail. He continued cutting kids' hair at the barber shop in Medfield until his arrest in February 2020.

On April 24, he is due back in Worcester Superior Court for a potential plea offer in the two open cases.
