BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston is continuing to fight coronavirus as cases spike in the city.
Mayor Marty Walsh told WBZ NewsRadio that as of Wednesday morning, there are 938 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which is up 113 cases from Tuesday. Also, 68 people have recovered and three more people have died.
“We’re seeing our numbers rapidly jump up here every day in the triple digits. And I think that a lot of the work that we’ve done in the last couple weeks with staying at home and social isolation, we won’t see the effect of that until next week,” Walsh said.
The mayor said it is important that everyone practices social distancing. “In order to really fight this virus back, we need 100 percent of participation,” he said.
Walsh also said the city is expected to receive more protective gear for health care workers and first responders in the next couple of days.
“It’s really kind of appalling that we’re still talking about this, that Washington hasn’t gotten these supplies into the hands of our first responders and medical personnel because we have to keep them safe as well, and keep them healthy,” Walsh “And hopefully, we’ve been told this is the week that everything’s coming in the next several days. So, I’m hoping we’re not having this conversation on Friday.”
