BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Trump Administration's 'Operation Legend' to deploy federal agents to cities is already underway, and it is being met with criticism.
The Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called it "tyrannical" and likened it to actions taken by dictators. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh also does not believe Boston needs any federal encroachment.
Mayor Walsh spoke to Dan Rea on Nightside:
The U.S. Conference of Mayors actually came out with a statement against any type of authorities coming in without working with the local authorities. I think that's something that's inappropriate, I don't think that that works.
Mayor Walsh said that Boston is seeing an increase of violence this summer and neighborhood groups, along with social advocacy tied to the city are stepping up their efforts to hopefully prevent future violence this summer.
