TRURO (WBZNewsRadio) - A popular Cape Cod beach was closed to swimmers for an hour on Tuesday afternoon after a great white shark was spotted near shore.

The Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro was closed between 1 and 2 p.m., according to the Sharktivity App.

It's just the latest sighting of sharks in the water off Cape Cod. Since May, there have been over 20 shark sightings, 10 of which were spotted in the last week alone.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy says beachgoers should be 'Shark Smart' and follow safety guidelines.
