Two Hospitalized, Including Firefighter, After Maynard Apartment Fire

MAYNARD (WBZNewsRadio) - Two people, including a firefighter are recovering after being hospitalized after a fire in an apartment complex on Wednesday morning.

Fire officials said they responded to a fire at a senior public housing complex around 6:30 a.m. and saw heavy smoke and fire from the second floor. A 3rd alarm was struck, prompting nearby Acton and Concord Fire Departments to assist.

The fire was out by 7:40 a.m.

One resident was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A firefighter was also taken to the hospital. Both are expected to be okay. Approximately eight residents were displaced and are getting assistance from the Red Cross.

The State Fire Marshal's Office, along with Maynard Fire and District 14 Fire Investigations are looking into the cause of the fire.
