SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) - A lightning strike caused a fire on the campus of the American International College in Springfield, as severe weather rolled through the region Thursday night.

President of the college, Hubert Benitez, DDS, PhD, said Courniotes Hall suffered significant damage because of the fire. The building houses AIC's nursing program and classrooms for health science courses.

"AIC is committed to taking all actions necessary to ensure that we provide students with continuity in their course of studies in the fall of 2023." President Benitez said. "AIC is known for it's resilience and we will come back stronger than ever thanks to the help of our community."
