BOSTON (WBZNewsRadio) - The calendar has yet to read October, but the good folks as the Massachusetts Department of Transportation are already looking ahead, and putting out the call for snow plow drivers.

MassDOT posted on social media, they've begun the hiring season for "on call" drivers, adding "opportunities exist state-wide."

There has been a shortage of drivers over the last few years with many local municipalities offering competitive wages for seasonal drivers. It appears wages start somewhere around $35 per hour, according to Linkedin. In 2021, Watertown offered up to $200 per hour for plow drivers with a commercial license and $310 per hour for those with special equipment, no word on what this year's rate might be.

Anyone interested in learning more or applying for a seasonal position, can do so on the state's website.
