18-Year-Old Killed After Serious Crash On I-495 In Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. (WB ZNewsRadio) — An 18-year-old from North Andover has died after a serious crash on Interstate 495 North in Lawrence.

State Police said their initial investigation revealed a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck, pulling a fifth wheel camper, was headed northbound in the center lane of I-495. At the same time, a speeding 2005 GMC Envoy clipped the right side of the camper, sending the vehicle rolling down a steep slope off the roadway, before it caught fire.

The driver of the GMC, 18-year-old woman from North Andover was thrown from the vehicle onto the road. She was hit by oncoming traffic and did not survive. Her name is not being released at this time. Also in the Envoy, a 17-year-old passenger was ejected and treated for minor head injuries. There were also two teenage girls, 15 and 16-years-old, in the backseat. Both sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to Lawrence General and are expected to be okay.

The driver of the Ram, a 18-year-old from Pennsylvania was not hurt.
