DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Multiple organizations are seeking the public’s assistance in their investigation of an animal cruelty incident that happened at the end of last year.
The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) and Dedham Police are looking into a case where a young Pitbull-type male dog was found dead and emaciated on the ARL’s Dedham campus on October 25, 2021.
Surveillance footage revealed that just two days before, on October 23, an SUV-sized vehicle dropped the animal off in a plastic bag and then drove away. Authorities believe the vehicle involved was a Nissan Rogue.
“It’s awful. It was emaciated. Animals don’t deserve that,” said Joseph King with the ARL. “We’re at the point now where I think we’ve gone as far we’re going to go using traditional investigative methods and so we’re just looking for the public’s help.”

While the ARL and Dedham Police have followed several leads and used numerous investigative tactics, the organizations are now asking the public for help to identify the two suspects caught in the footage. King added that there are alternatives for people who are incapable of providing for their pet.
“There’s plenty of humane agencies you can go to, there’s options,” he said. “If you have an animal that you can’t take care of, if you’re in over your head, you can bring it here. We’ll take it.”
