BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Athletic Association is spreading the word about an app to track Boston Marathon runners in real time.

The 127th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17, will have nearly 30,000 runners. The B.A.A. Racing App will let people track individual runners as they make their way towards the finish line.

Available for free on both iPhone and Android devices, users need only log into the app on the day of the race and insert the name or bib number of the runner they want to follow.

The app also has leaderboards, interactive course maps, links to social media feeds, and more.

You can also track runners on the B.A.A. website on race day.

WBZ's Chris Fama (@CFamaWBZ) reports.
