WELLFLEET, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is asking boaters in the area to be on the look-out for sea turtles.

Officials say, in the past few weeks, they've responded to five dead loggerhead turtles and each one of them had clear vessel-strike wounds.

Wildlife experts say sea turtles are known to bask on the water's surface which makes them hard to see from a boat.

Boaters are urged to use autopilot and to be sure to keep their eyes ahead of their vessels.

If you do see a sea turtle, in any condition, you're asked to report the sighting to their website.
