Team Rescues Beaver Trapped Along The Charles For Four Days

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A beaver that was trapped along the Cordingly Dam Fish Passage along the Charles River has been rescued.

The beaver was lifted up in nets about 15 feet by the combined efforts of the Wellesley Animal Control and the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

According to the Animal Rescue League, "Beavers typically are not very cooperative in rescue situations, however, once the beaver was on the surface, ARL’s team was able to coax the beaver into a carrier and then transport him to a wildlife rehabilitation center."

The stranded beaver was brought to the attention of the animal groups after community members called in to report the beaver had not moved from under a footbridge for days.

Although the beaver was reportedly not injured, he was taken to a rehabilitation center as he was too weak to swim—possibly from lack of food.
