CONCORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — 'Little Women,' a story written in Concord and the latest film was shot entirely in Massachusetts, opened in theaters Christmas Day.
It stars Saiorse Ronan, Emma Watson and Meryl Streep among others.
Both Boston and the town of Concord recognized the classic novel and it's author with a week of activities leading up to the film's release.
Concord spokeswoman Erin Stevens says they are thrilled that parts of the film were shot there.
"Having 'Little Women' revisited again, it renews our excitement and it makes people really proud to have this story being told again," Stevens said. "It shows how it still has relevance, and continues to be loved years and even generations later."
Louisa May Alcott wrote 'Little Women' while living in Concord back in 1868. The latest film lead by 'Lady Bird' director Greta Gerwig, comes about 150 years and several adaptions later.
