Berklee Graduate Orchestrates JLo's Inaugural Performance

Berklee alum Lenny Wee served as the arranger, producer, director, and orchestrator for Jennifer Lopez' performance with the United States Marine Band as part of President Joe Biden’s inauguration, singing "This Land is Your Land" and "America the Beautiful" with a brief snippet of the pop star's own song "Let’s Get Loud."

Wee, a Singaporean producer, orchestrator, arranger, engineer, and conductor, studied contemporary writing and production and music production and engineering at Berklee College, graduating in 2008.

Along with JLo, Berklee said Wee has also worked with Idina Menzel, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and on several American Idol Productions.

According to his website, Wee has arranged and produced music for with Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Gladys Knight, Meghan Trainor, Jessi J, Natalie Cole, Carrie Underwood, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Michael McDonald, Aretha Franklin and Christina Aguilera to name a few.

"He is no stranger to live televised broadcasts," Berklee officials said. "[Wee has] previous experience working on the Grammy Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, and the Super Bowl."

Ahead of Wednesday's inauguration, Wee posted an image of himself in D.C. with the caption "very proud to represent all the immigrants that call this great country home."
