WINCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A teenager died while swimming at a beach in Winchester Saturday evening.

Massachusetts State Police said Luis Tejeda, 17, of Lynn was swimming with family members at Shannon Beach in the Upper Mystic Lakes. Tejada and another family member were around 100 yards offshore, well outside the safe swimming barriers, when the other person noticed Tejeda was no longer visible at the surface, police said.

Police said the family contacted authorities around 7:00 p.m. while they attempted to look for him. State police patrols, specialized units, detectives, local public safety partners, and Massachusetts Environmental Police responded and conducted a search.

Divers with the Stoneham Fire Department recovered Tejeda's body in about six feet of water near the place where he was last seen, police said.

According to state police, there is no foul play suspected. An official cause of death is pending.

Last July, a 52-year-old man from Lynn and a 56-year-old man from Chelsea drowned in separate incidents at Shannon Beach.
