Boston City Officials Say Clougherty Pool Will Not Open For Summer Season

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — According to an announcement from the City of Boston, the Boston Centers for Youth & Families Clougherty Pool in Charlestown will not open for the 2022 summer season.

Officials say the pool facility has raised "serious safety concerns" and that they are unwilling to jeopardize the safety of pool patrons and staff as a result. City officials went on to recommend swimmers visit the BCYF Charlestown Community Center pool instead, which will remain open over the summer. Another pool just over two miles away is the BCYF Mirabella Pool on Commerical Street in the North End.

Lifeguards will be redeployed to open three other pools, which city officials say will help expand their aquatic outreach. All aquatic programs offered through the pools is free, according to the City of Boston.
