Boston K-9 Officers Find Suspect Lying Under Brush In Roxbury

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — K-9 officers assisted Boston police in locating a suspected career criminal who ran from officers in Roxbury on Friday night.

According to BPD, officers received a radio call for a person with a gun at around 6:10 p.m. Friday. They observed a man matching the description of the suspect walking on Warren Street towards Quincy Street.

"Officers attempted to speak with the male, who immediately took off running," BPD said. "The male fled into the rear of 442 Warren Street where he jumped over a fence and fled onto Glenburne Street. Officers pursued the male on foot, locating a discarded firearm in the rear of 3 Quincy Place."

The firearm was later determined to be loaded with five rounds of live ammunition.

Assisting units responded and set up a perimeter in the area. Two K-9 officers were quickly able to find the suspect, later identified as 49-year-old Ramone Miles of Mattapan, who was lying down in the thick brush next to a house at the end of Gannett Street.

BPD said Miles is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Third Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Armed Career Criminal Level Three.
