BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police are asking residents in Brighton to be on the lookout for a masked man spotted lurking outside of some Boston College student apartments in Brighton.

Both Boston Police and Boston College police posted warnings about the masked man after what appeared to be an attempted robbery at an off-campus student dorm for Boston College on Kirkwood Road in Brighton. The man has also been seen looking through windows at houses on Radnor Road, Foster Street. Greycliff Road, and Braemore Road.

The suspect is believed to be around 5-foot-8 to six feet tall with a slim build, likely weighing somewhere between 160 to 170 pounds. He was seen wearing an REI rain jacket, sneakers with white laces, and black gloves. The suspect has also been seen wearing a full face mask or a medical mask to cover his face.

WBZ's James Rojas spoke to a few Brighton residents, like students Max and Andrew, who say the warning isn't raising the alarm at their house.

"Yeah there's a guy that kind of shows up and tries to get into some houses and look through windows and stuff like that— we have enough golf clubs, we're fine," Andrew said.

"There's 12 guys in our house, if someone comes in our house I don't think he's going to have a fun time," Max said.

Other residents expressed concerns for their neighbors.

"I heard from a couple buddies that their house had 'peekers' through it. I live up in an apartment so I feel pretty comfortable there, it's not like a house, but for people who live in houses, yeah I think it's pretty scary," said one resident named Haley.

Boston College Police said the suspect tried to break into two residences on Oct. 13 and was seen leaving the area in what appeared to be a dark-colored Jeep wrangler or a vehicle like it. BCPD is urging students to make sure all their doors are locked, valuables are kept out of sight and away from windows, be aware of their surroundings, and be familiar with their neighbors.

Anyone with information pertaining to the incidents or who thinks they may know the suspect's identity is encouraged to reach out to Boston Police.
