BPD Ask Public To Help Identify Person In Connection With Homicide

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Police Department put out a community alert Saturday, asking for the public’s help identifying an individual in connection to an ongoing homicide investigation.

Officers responded to a radio call Friday at 12:40 p.m. for a person shot in the area of Bowdoin Avenue and Washington Street in Dorchester.

When they arrived, officers found a victim, later identified at 19-year-old Tasjahnaya Dance of Dorchester, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

BPD released several photos Saturday afternoon of a Black person in a white sweater, who the Department is trying to identify in connection to Dance's death.

"The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident." BPD said. "Anyone with information relative to the above images is asked to contact BPD Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470."

Community members wishing to assist this investigation anonymously can do so by calling the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463), BPD said.

"The Boston Police Department will stringently guard and protect the identities of all those who wish to help this investigation in an anonymous manner."
