COVID-19 Outbreak Reported At Brigham & Women's Hospital

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of patients at Brigham & Women's hospital are being tested for COVID-19, after an outbreak was confirmed among 28 staff and patients this week.

As WBZ-TV reports, Brigham’s Infection Control Team believes the outbreak has been contained to two inpatient units in the Braunwald Tower, and more than 600 patients connected to the cluster are currently being tested for the virus.

Hospital officials said the first staffer tested positive for the virus on Sunday, followed by a patient who tested positive on Monday, according to the Boston Globe.

In the days since, a total of 19 employees and nine patients have tested positive for COVID-19. While the hospital is testing all patients connected to the cluster, staff are being offered voluntary tests.
