BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities have announced the conclusion of a joint investigation into the cause of Tuesday afternoon's electrical fire at the Massachusetts State House that led to an evacuation.

There were no reported injuries.

The building remained closed Wednesday.

The investigation concluded that the electrical fire started accidentally from electrical faults in two lines that run from a vault near a guard shack to a pull-box in the basement of the Annex Building.

An investigation was also completed into Tuesday morning’s fire alarm activation at the State House which happened a few hours before the electrical fire.

The investigation determined that the fire alarm was mistakenly pulled by two visitors who thought it was a mechanism to open a door.

The unintentional alarm activation that happened at about 11 a.m., and then the electrical fire that started at around 2 p.m., both caused building evacuations.

There was no connection between the two incidents.

The Superintendent of the State House Tammy Kraus said the building will reopen tomorrow (Thursday).
