BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Families gathered at the State House this morning to remember the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

One by one, the names of the victims were read out loud on the steps of the State House. Many of the families wanted to immortalize their family members as more than just a name, but a source of life for others.

"Every single one of these people that were on the flights were more than names," said Sonia Puopolo, who lost her mother at ground zero. "Lives changed, everyone’s lives changed. Not only just us on a personal level, but the world changed."

There were 219 victims that were from or lived in Massachusetts at the time of the attacks.

Governor Maura Healey was also in attendance reading names and participating in the lowering of the flag to half-staff.
