Fenway Park Puts New Mask Mandate In Place

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Fans at Fenway Park will now need to bring a mask with them on game day. The historic ballpark has put an indoor mask mandate in place.

The mandate applies to all indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status — which includes going to the bathroom, using the elevators, and visiting the team stores. The exception is if visitors are "actively" eating or drinking. The mandate follows the city of Boston's mandate, which went into place last Friday.

The park reiterated that unvaccinated guests are "encouraged" to wear a mask at all times, indoors and out. The mandate comes as the Red Sox are dealing with their own COVID struggles, with eight players on the COVID-19 injured list as of Thursday. The team is scheduled to be back at Fenway to play the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.
