CAPE COD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Nearly 100 elected officials on Cape Cod have written a letter urging the Baker-Polito Administration to allocate additional Covid-19 vaccines to Barnstable County.
The letter was sent to the Governor on February 12 and was co-signed by 92 elected officials at the state, municipal and county levels of government throughout the Cape.
The letter demands Governor Charlie Baker establish a mass vaccination site at Cape Cod Community College. Lawmakers on the Cape say this was discussed, but never executed by the Baker Administration.

The lawmakers also demand an increased allocation of vaccines to Barnstable County, which currently receives 975 doses per week from the state. Lawmakers say they need delivery of the vaccine to local boards of health on the Cape, too.
In the letter, officials say Cape Cod is being left behind in the most significant vaccination effort in state history, with 55,000 doses still needed to vaccinate all Cape Cod residents over the age of 75.
Barnstable County has the highest number of residents over the age of 75 in the state.
The politicians finished off the letter stating, "we simply need the state to allocate vaccine equitably bases on demography. Please help us help ourselves."
