Funeral Services For Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe Gather Hundreds

BRAINTREE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Monday, funeral services were underway in Braintree for Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe who was found dead in front of a home in Canton during January's blizzard.

Hundreds were lined up on the street outside St. Francis of Assisi Church for the wake of 46-year-old O'Keefe on Sunday. The Braintree community he grew up in and fellow BPD colleagues among other were in attendance to pay respects to the 16-year-veteran of the BPD.

Washington Street was filled with officers from different communities, as BPD performed a walk through to honor O'Keefe.

O'Keefe's girlfriend, 41-year-old Karen Read of Mansfield, was charged with manslaughter in connection to his death, according to the Norfolk District Attorney's office. Officials alleged that Read left the scene after her motor vehicle collided with and killed O'Keefe.
