NANTUCKET Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Human remains that were found on Nantucket in April have been identified as Mary Macy, a Nantucket resident who went missing from her home in 2015, according to a death certificate filed with the Nantucket Town Clerk's Office, the Nantucket Current reports.

When she went missing in June 2015, Macy was reported to have been suffering from early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Police in Nantucket received a report on Thursday evening of identified human remains found near the East end of the Island, according to a press release on the department’s Facebook page. The two men who found the remains were reportedly looking for deer antler sheds at the time.

Police responded to the scene and subsequently secured the area while evidence was processed and collected. The remains have been transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further evaluation.

The cause of death is unknown currently and remains under investigation.
