Hyde Park Man Charged For Allegedly Stealing Grocery Truck

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man from Hyde Park was taken into police custody early Sunday morning after allegedly stealing a Peapod grocery delivery truck.

At about 7:45 a.m., officers responded to a call about the truck theft on E. Springfield Street in the South End. When they arrived, police spoke to the witness who said he was making a Peapod grocery delivery in the area, when an unknown male jumped into the delivery truck and took off in an unknown direction.

The victim gave officers a description of the suspect and the delivery truck, and a short time later, officers in Jamaica Plain saw the truck driving along School Street.

Detectives followed the Peapod truck until it pulled into a driveway at 12 School Street and placed the driver, 40-year-old Wilfredo Burgos, under arrest. Burgos is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
