WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A little library, offering free LGBTQ books to the community, has been raided multiple times within the past week.

The couple who runs the Little Queer Library in Waltham believes someone has been deliberately taking all the books out from the stand. Katie Cohen and Krysta Petrie also have a video doorbell that caught the alleged thief on camera.

“In the last two weeks we had some people who have come twice to clear out all of the books from the library,” Cohen said.

The video shows a man in a silver SUV parking on the other side of the road and making two trips to clear out the library. While his intention may have been to reduce business, the man’s action may have had the opposite effect.

“The community response once again has been huge and we’re reaching more and more people than ever,” Petrie explained. She added that more people now “know about our library.”

People have dropped off books at the couple’s home and even a donation from Australia came in with nearly 200 books. The library can hold around 20 books at a time and is located at 1045 Trapelo Road in Waltham.
