BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you were thinking of going on a first date on Valentine's Day, Boston dating experts may tell you to think again.

LunchDates Professional Matchmaking said they have specialized in arranging casual dates that help single, career-minded men and women find successful relationships in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island for over 35 years.

WBZ's Matt Shearer sat down with one of LunchDates' Dating Coaches and Executive Matchmakers, Jill Vandor and asked why Valentine's Day may not be the best choice for a first date.

"It's too much pressure for a first date," Vandor said, "for a first date you should have had it the weekend before- but if not, have it during the week anyways."

Vandor said that February is a busy season for dating experts, even more so as the pandemic pushes client numbers to increase continuously.

Services for Executive Matchmaking that LunchDates offers include private interviews, to find out what clients are looking for in a partner, consultations, and date arrangements.

"Basically, they hire me to do all the work for them," Vandor said.

According to LunchDates, matchmaking is done discreetly and unlike other online dating sites where matches are based on pictures, clients are brought together based on "professional attributes," such as lifestyle choices, values, intellect, physique, and more.

After a LunchDates matchmaker is sure there's match, clients will receive another's full profile and decide if they'd like professionals to make an introduction.

In terms of WBZ's Matt Shearer's performance on his mock date, Vandor said he did great partly because he showed up early and pulled out Vandor's chair for her.

"It's the little things that matter to people," Vandor said.
