Marine Technician Gets Stuck On Boat During Cape Cod Storm

CHATHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The storm that brought an EF-1 tornado with winds speeds of 110 miles per hour to Yarmouth and Harwich also battered boats along the shore.

Corey Smith, a 27-year-old Marine system technician for MacDouglas Cape Cod Marine Services in Falmouth was alone on a boat in a Chatham harbor when the clouds came in.

"The storm rolled in a lot faster than I anticipated," Smith told WBZ NewsRadio. "Before I knew it, it came in full force and within minutes it was too strong for me to get off the boat."

Despite witnessing a number of other boats in the harbor capsize, Smith managed to escape unharmed.

"I just had to hold on and ride it out."
