LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A mother and daughter from Western Massachusetts are trying to enact change after a very sad situation involving their dog.
The family lost their beloved puppy 3 months ago, after unknowingly taking him to an unlicensed day care center in Longmeadow.
Ollie's Law is named in honor of the adorable, playful brown labradoodle puppy named Ollie Baxter.
Ollie was attacked by several dogs that were also at the facility. He suffered a least 100 puncture wounds and died in November said his mom, Amy Baxter.
"He had an antibiotic resistant infection that just kept coming back and he passed away when he was 7 months old," said Baxter.

She said Pampered Pets Doggy Day Care & Spa came recommended by a friend. Baxter said she had no idea it wasn't licensed through the town.
Now, she has created legislation that calls for state oversight and licensing of doggie day care centers. Baxter teamed up with State Rep. Brian Ashe to file the bill.
"I really want something that is truly going to help animals and the humans who work in the day care," said Baxter.
She said, the one employee who was there when Ollie was attacked had only been there for 3 weeks and received no training.
