WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — He's cute, he's cuddly, and he's ready to win the Puppy Bowl.

Max, a.k.a. "Big Man," is a Chihuahua-Pomeranian mix adopted from Great Dog Rescue New England in Woburn.

Big Man will represent GDRNE in Puppy Bowl XX, airing Sunday at 2 p.m. on Animal Planet.

Max's owner, Erin Barnicle of Waltham, said the pup was selected after a casting call with Animal Planet last autumn.

This year's Puppy Bowl features 131 dogs representing 73 shelters and rescues across 36 states and territories, making it the biggest lineup yet.

Puppies will be split into two teams—Team Ruff and Team Fluff—and compete to win the Lombarky Trophy.
