NEEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Residents in Needham, Mass. are preparing for the first snowstorm of the season with some comfort food.

AccuWeather is still predicting 4-8 inches of snow for Boston and nearby suburbs, with the potential for more than 8 inches in the northern and western parts of the state. They expect the South Shore, Cape and Islands to see less snow with rain mixing in.

WBZ’s Chris Fama asked Needham residents what they expect from the impending storm.

“I’m kind of hoping for a good, heavy snow,” said one resident.

“Who knows man, we never know where we are. It could be a few inches, it could be a foot,” said one resident.

For most residents, the impending weather means breaking out the shovels and snowplows. For others, it means breaking out the crockpot and comfort food recipes.

“I’m making Portuguese soup this weekend, big pot with some nice crusty bread,” said one resident.

“I like to get a nice bowl of chili and watch the snow fall because it takes time for the snow to build,” said another resident.

One woman was excited to play in the snow with her grandchild, who is staying with her through the storm.

“We ski, we snowboard, sledding, snowshoeing. I love the snow,” said one woman watching.
