Norwood Selectman Dies Unexpectedly After Medical Emergency

NORWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio)— Norwood Selectman David Hajjar died Saturday after a medical emergency at his home, according to the Town of Norwood.

Hajjar was a long-time native of Norwood and had served on the Select Board for the town since 2019. No other details were given on his death. The town described his death as unexpected.

“David always wanted to make the Town of Norwood a better place,” Selectmen Chairman Thomas Maloney said in a statement. “He served the community he loved, selflessly and with distinction, and will be missed."

Hajjar was a staple in local Norwood politics. He served on the town's personnel board for 13 years, including seven years as chairman. The town said in a statement he was continuous presence at Norwood Town Meetings and claimed he had never missed a single session.

He also served as a member of the town's Finance Commission.

Hajjar is survived by his wife and four children. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
