Southborough Police Sergeant Stabbed While Conducting Interview

SOUTHBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities are investigating after a police sergeant was stabbed overnight in the lobby of the Southborough Public Safety Building.

Sgt. James Deluca was interviewing a man about alleged threats at the time. Deluca then called for a mental health clinician to evaluate the man before being attacked with a knife.

Deluca was taken to the hospital and has since been released.

The suspect, Stuart Angus, of Southborough, was arraigned Monday afternoon on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was ordered held without bail.

Angus is also required to have a mental health evaluation.
