QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Officials at Quincy Public Schools say a student that allegedly brought a gun to show off after dismissal at Central Middle School Tuesday afternoon will not be allowed back to class there.

Superintendent of Schools Kevin Mulvey sent a letter to parents and the community, detailing that a Grade 7 student was caught displaying an unloaded handgun to several students just outside the school. Police called to the scene sent officers to seize the gun at the student's home, confirming that it belonged to a parent.

"I am shocked and saddened that this student's dangerous actions jeopardized their own health and well-being and those of their classmates and school staff. The student will face serious disciplinary consequences for their action and will not return to Central Middle School," Mulvey said.
