BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's not the color of socks you'd expect at Fenway Stadium. The Red Sox are teaming up with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) to collect white socks for the homeless this weekend.
Volunteers will collect the socks at all Fenway Park gates before and during the team's June 13 game against the Toronto Blue Jays, as part of the 15th annual "Sox for Socks" drive.
BHCHP said the socks help prevent serious diseases among the homeless like frostbite. The drive has collected almost 125,000 pairs of socks and $25,000 in cash over the course of its 15 year history.
Doctors from the BHCHP will give out the socks to the homeless across Greater Boston with the help of Gentle Giant Moving Company.
